Lessons and mentoring on Fiverr

Hi! My name is Vinicius Borges, I have a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a teacher’s degree and bachelor’s degree from the University of Brasilia. I have written the book “The Student’s Definitive Guide”

I currently work as a high school teacher and part-time freelance programmer, musician, writer and speaker.

If you would like to get 1-on-1 lessons or mentoring about these topics, feel free to get in touch or check my Fiverr profile.

PYTHON LESSONS

I first learned how to code during my Master’s degree and fell in love with it. I truly believe anyone can learn this skill, with the proper teaching and guidance. My lessons are usually project-based: if you have something you are working on that you need help, I will spend our class time focused on your particular project. For people looking to getting started with programming, we can have lessons on the basics as well.

I have experience with the following topics:

  • Data structuring and analysis with Pandas and Numpy
  • Data visualization with Matplotlib
  • Web scraping with BeautifulSoup
  • Machine Learning with TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Creating games with PyGame
  • Creating electronics and robotics projects with Raspberry Pi/Arduino
  • Scripting with MATLAB
  • Data analysis and interpretation of neuroscience topics (fiber photometry, miniscope, spike decoding)

For my beginner lessons, I have a structured curriculum based on “Automating the Boring Stuff with Python” and “Python Crash Course”.

GUITAR LESSONS

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old and I have been teaching the instrument for almost 10 years now.

I believe that motivating the student and helping him to integrate the instrument into his daily routine is the most important role that a teacher can do.

My methodology is the flipped-classroom and I use the Google Classroom platform: every week, I will write a study guide with details of what we discussed during class + references (videos/blogs/books). This can be used by the student to study carefully at their own pace. During our next class, we will discuss the points you had the most difficulty with and advance your knowledge further.

My main goal is to teach guitar using the interests of the student, not a pre-established class plan. We can focus on specific songs you want to learn, music theory or fingerstyle techniques, whatever you are interested in.

I have a CD published on Spotify named “14th of August” with four original fingerstyle songs and one cover.

HELP YOU BECOME A BETTER STUDENT

During the one-on-one class, we will be able to discuss what your current difficulties are and how we could set goals and objectives.

During this time, we can discuss how learning works, how to increase your motivation and overcome procrastination, how to use flashcards and mind maps, and come up with a study roadmap.

I’ve used these methods to graduate with honors in undergraduate and master’s degrees, and they’ve already helped elementary, middle, college students.

During the first class, I can give you a copy of my e-book for reference.

The book contains, among other topics:

1) How to take good notes

2) Memory, attention and neuroeducation

3) How to learn complex things

4) Mnemonics and visualization techniques

5) How to read efficiently

6) Dealing with procrastination

7) Building study habits and routines

8) Study planning and intellectual tools

9) How to take tests

10) Taking care of your health as a student
